Lamar receives funding from NASA-EPSCoR Research Initiation Grant!

Environmental control systems for current and future exploration spacecraft need to meet challenging requirements for efficient operation and conservation of resources. The ability to prevent system failure through a better understanding of the causes of such an event is critical to the Life Support Systems and Environmental Control Division (LSSECD) and constitutes one of NASA’s top strategic priorities. Over the next six months, we'll be investigating the causes/limits of failure of Nafion membranes, which are used to dry air in the enclosed environments present in manned space missions. David, Claire, Brettany, Austin, and Olivia will be designing experiments and equipment to determine the lifespan of these membranes.
